Welcome to Go Green NOLA, the guide for the New Orleans community on how to build and live green. We hope to introduce you to new ways of thinking and living because we know one person can make a difference in her/his community ( here's proof ). We also highlight the many people and organizations making a positive and green change in this city. So, Go Green NOLA!
We also think one great, real-world example is worth more than 100 theoretical ones. We look at the Samuel Green charter school with its edible schoolyard program and think that it should be multiplied in every school in the New Orleans area. We look at the community garden project of the Vietnamese community in New Orleans and want a community garden in every neighborhood in New Orleans. About UsLillian LovichThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it Go Green NOLA was started by Lillian Lovich / Good Egg Web Studio in November 2007. Lillian was born and raised in New Orleans. She is a logician/philosopher by education and a web/interface designer by employment. Thanks to her Croatian father's life-long love of gardening, Lillian knows how to pick a tasty orange and to outsmart bluejays for figs. She's only just realized that everyone does not have a backyard mini-orchard (like her dad's). But she thinks they should! When Lillian is not working on this website, she's either being crafty, walking her dog Stella, or going to a Zydepunks show. Mike O'Neill This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it After running a successful Apple IT services company in Northern California, Mike worked as a marketing and music licensing consultant in Los Angeles, acquiring music rights from every major label, publisher and many artists for use in toys. In New Orleans, he sells Inter/Intranet applications and consults with local businesses to develop custom resources that streamline workflow. A native of Louisiana, Mike spent 13 years in California then moved to New Orleans in August 2005. Living on the west coast exposed him to progressive lifestyles, conservation and community activism. With Go Green NOLA, Mike wants to increase awareness of healthier living, environmental responsibility and community development in New Orleans and Louisiana. Mike also enjoys photography, cooking, yoga and autocross. People and ideas that inspire us:
We hope every local government official and every New Orleans citizen will see Majora Carter's talk as it shows how one person can change her community.
When John Doerr, a venture capitalist, says it's time for everyone and
every business to go green, we know that going green isn't just for
hippies anymore.
